Internet addiction is a kind of consumer behavior that has attracted the attention of many studies. Loneliness is a frequently reported mental illness addicted to the internet. Lonely individuals may be drawn online because of the increased potential for companionship, the changed social interaction patterns online, and as a way to modulate negative moods associated with loneliness. This study examines the relationship between internet addiction and loneliness among albanian students of University of Shkodra and the gender differences to this aspect. The participants to the research were 151 students from 18-23 years old, who live in different places of North Albania. In order to trace the connection between loneliness and Internet addiction among students was used the self-administered questionnaires: Internet Addiction Test (IAT) and UCLA Loneliness Scale. The research has shown that there is a mild negative correlation between loneliness and Internet addiction, on the other hand no gender differences was found in terms of internet addiction and loneliness level. The results suggest that students addicted to the Internet have significantly lower rates of loneliness.
The purpose of the present study is to investigate the relationship between Internet addiction with loneliness, depression, anxiety and stress among students of Albania’s universities. The prevalence of Internet addiction and the gender differences are other important purposes of this study. The sample consists of 1,024 university students from different Faculties of Albania’s Universities. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between internet addiction and loneliness, anxiety, stress and depression as a whole and all its components. Data were collected using the Internet addiction scale, UCLA Loneliness Scale, Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS 21). The regression results also indicated that in general, Internet addiction can predict loneliness, depression, anxiety and stress variable. T-test analysis indicated that male students are more prone to be addicted to the Internet than female ones and the prevalence rate of heavy internet addiction is about 0.7%. The main purpose of the present study is to investigate the extent of anxiety symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic on university students of Shkoder. Another purpose is to find out the relationship between anxiety symptoms with some demographical variables such as gender, age, level of study, field of study and having been infected or not by coronavirus. Data was collected using the Corona Disease Anxiety Scale (CDAS), administered online to assess the anxiety level. The sample consists of 175 university students from different Faculties of the University of Shkoder. The results showed that the prevalence rate of heavy anxiety during the pandemic is about 10.3%. T-test indicated that female students are more prone to experience anxiety during the pandemic than male ones. Anova analysis indicated that midwifery students show the highest level of anxiety compared to other fields of studies. But anxiety was not associated with age, level of study or having been infected by coronavirus. These findings are important in detecting the psychological consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic in different societies.
