Este artigo nasceu como resultado de visita técnica realizada no ano de 2015 a uma Escola Família Agrícola (EFA), como parte das atividades educativas do Programa de Mestrado em Educação Agrícola PPGEA, Módulo II - Saberes Técnicos, na Escola Municipal Flores de Nova Friburgo-RJ, que utiliza o método da Pedagogia da Alternância para os alunos do segundo segmento do ensino fundamental. A metodologia parte do relato desta visita que se trata de uma abordagem exploratória com uma pesquisa de campo e ressalta a relação da escola com o poder público e a comunidade campo, grande produtora de hortaliças e flores, do seu entorno. Após a observação e análise da realidade da escola, as discussões dessas relações estão associadas a uma adaptação da gestão local nos pilares da Pedagogia da Alternância, bem como a criação de uma dicotomia entre a teoria e prática de acordo com os parâmetros de atendimento (ou não) do que o próprio poder público indica no Parecer MEC 01/2006. Como conclusão, a relação entre o poder público e a escola mostra que a educação do campo ainda não é prioridade na prática, apesar de termos uma norma oficial no MEC que exalte a Pedagogia da Alternância e toda perspectiva de desenvolvimento que ela resgata para as escolas rurais.
