192 unbehandelte Patienten mit histologisch gesichertem nicht-klein-zelligem Bronchialkarzinom wurden im Rahmen von 3 Phase-II-Studien mit den Kombinationen Ifosfamid 2g/m2 an den Tagen 1–5 und Cisplatin 75 mg/m2 am Tag 1 (Studie I) Ifosfamid 2 g/m2 an den Tagen 1–5 und Etoposid 120 mg/m2 an den Tagen 1–3 (Studie II) und Ifosfamid 2 g/m2 an den Tagen 1–5 und Vindesin 3 mg/m2 an den Tagen 1 und 8 (Studie III) in Abständen von vier Wochen behandelt. Eine Therapie mit mindestens zwei Kursen gait als Voraussetzung für die Remissionsbeurteilung. Bei 5 Patienten wurde eine komplette, bei 54 eine partielle Remission (Remissionsrate 31 %) erzielt. Die mediane Remissionsdauer betrug 7 Monate, die Zeit bis zur Progression 5 Monate. Die mediane Überlebensdauer aller 192 Patienten wurde mit 8,5 Monaten errechnet. Der Leistungsindex hatte einen signifikanten . Einfluß auf den Remissionsstatus und die Überlebensdauer der Patienten. Geschlecht und Alter der Patienten sowie Ausdehnung und histologischer Typ des Tumors waren ohne Einfluß. Hinsichtlich der Remissionsrate und der Überlebensdauer unterschieden sich die drei Therapieverfahren nicht signifikant voneinander. Bezüglich der Toxizität erwies sich die Kombination von Ifosfamid und Etoposid als besonders günstig.
