Résumé Sur la base des consultations croissantes que nous assurons au Centre médical Marmottan depuis le début des années 2000 pour les usagers de jeux vidéo, de jeux d’argent et de hasard, et de pornographie, il apparaît que le recours à Internet est de plus en plus fréquent. Le réseau constitue un potentialisateur de certaines addictions. Cependant ces trois groupes de patients présentent des caractéristiques sociales et cliniques propres, engendrant donc un accompagnement, une prise en compte de l’entourage et un partenariat institutionnel différent. De même que l’usage de psychotropes, depuis les années 1970, a pu être considéré comme un indicateur de mutation sociétale, à notre sens, il en est de même de l’outil Internet et des nouvelles perspectives technologiques qu’il engendre.
Résumé Les témoignages des joueurs abusifs de jeux vidéo invitent à s’interroger sur la condition humaine : comment se forger une identité et construire un itinéraire dans les « sociétés de l’instant », caractérisées par l’incertitude et l’indétermination ? Le désir de reconnaissance s’accomplit dans de nouvelles structures intersubjectives qui commandent jusqu’au processus d’autonomisation des individus. Point d’orgue de la culture de l’image et de l’interactivité où le corps occupe une position toute particulière – disparu en chair mais aux commandes de l’avatar, corps de pixels – les jeux vidéo, en offrant la possibilité de vivre des expériences avec les autres, apparaissent comme un lieu propice à la fabrique d’identité.
