OBJETIVO: Avaliar o nível de estresse oxidativo após aplicação da microcorrente associado a andiroba em feridas cutâneas em ratos. MÉTODOS: Foram usados 50 animais da linhagem Wistar divididos em grupos: controle (GC), ferida (GF), microcorrente (GM), andiroba (GA) e microcorrente associado à andiroba (GMA). O experimento foi dividido em 2 protocolos iniciais compreendendo 7 e 14 dias. Após coleta da amostra dos tecidos realizou-se a análise do estresse oxidativo através dos níveis de substâncias reativas ao ácido tiobarbitúrico (TBARS) e a análise da capacidade antioxidante total pela catalase (CAT). RESULTADOS: O GF (7 dias) obteve os maiores níveis de TBARS e GM e GMA (7/14 dias) apresentaram níveis médios da CAT mais elevados, contudo o valor de GMA foi o mais significativo. CONCLUSÃO: A aplicação da microcorrente isolada ou associada à andiroba surte efeitos positivos no combate a peroxidação lipídica, sendo o melhor resultado encontrado quando associadas. Isso sugere que a aplicação da andiroba pode potencializar os efeitos da microcorrente na cicatrização de feridas.
