SCIENCE EDUCACION IN ACTION: the controversy mapping as a practice of technical-scientific citizenshipAbstract: In recent years the Science Education is strongly related the acquisition of scientific knowledge as aprerequisite for technical-scientific citizenship. Aiming to provoke the debate about science teaching for citizenship,we investigate the connections between citizen participation and scientific knowledge in the controversy regardingthe installation of the Apolo Project in Sierra Gandarela, Minas Gerais, Brazil. This controversy includes severalactors, as: lay people, researchers, politicians, businessmen, natural resources, popular movements, etc. The heterogeneityof the participants in the dispute created the need for bringing together theoretical and analytical toolsthat share the perspective of political ecology. Therefore, the set of tools designed for this research was stronglyfounded by Actor-Network Theory (ANT). ANT was combined with the notion of cosmos and cosmopolitics proposedby Stengers and also with the mapping of controversy. The results show that science education for citizenship shouldfocus on student participation in technic-scientific issues of public interest, and on practices that make room for themanifestations of the nature of technical and scientific objects. Keywords: Scientific literacy. Five strains of a novel methanol-assimilating yeast species were isolated from mango (Mangifera indica) leaves collected at the campus of the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil. The sequences of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region and the D1/D2 domains of the large subunit of the rRNA gene showed that this species belongs to the Ogataea clade and is related to O. allantospora, O. chonburiensis, O. dorogensis, O. kodamae, O. paradorogensis and Candida xyloterini (Ogataea clade). The novel species differs in the D1/D2 domains of the large subunit of the rRNA gene by 12 to 40 substitutions from these Ogataea species. The name Ogataea mangiferae sp. nov. is proposed for this novel species. The type strain of Ogataea mangiferae sp. nov. is UFMG-CM-Y253T ( = CBS 13492T). The Mycobank number is MB 811646.
Palavras-Chave: Educação do campo; controvérsias; teoria ator-rede; ontologia. AbstractThe paper intended to contribute to the understanding of the interrelationships between the so-called "academic knowledge" and the knowledge and experience of students of a Graduation in Rural Education, at a public university of southeastern Brazil. Specifically, we are interested in analyzing the discussions that emerged in lessons of Life Sciences, focusing on the elements of the controversies that happened at these meetings. Based on the actor-network theory, the research points to the fact that the students place themselves as active subjects who mobilize knowledge, practices and experiences that make them foster controversy in a training situation, towards a knowledge that is authorized by the university. It could be noticed the rich ontological elements related to dynamic relations of the economy, politics, international relations and social hierarchies. Thus, it was possible to discern elements that compose the material reality with which the licensees are amalgamated. Keywords: Rural education; controversies; actor-network theory; ontology.
