Our study clearly confirms a volume effect for late rectal bleeding. This can be described very well by the EUD-like models, of which the serial RU- and Poisson-EUD model can describe the data with only two parameters. Dose-volume-based cutoff-dose models performed worse.

Extensive, multifactorial data sharing is a crucial prerequisite for current and future (radiotherapy) research. However, the cost, time and effort to achieve this are often a roadblock. We present an open-source based data-sharing infrastructure between two radiotherapy departments, allowing seamless exchange of de-identified, automatically translated clinical and biomedical treatment data.

Highlights This study represents one of the first reports of online MRgRT. Integrated Low-field MR provides better anatomical visualization than CBCT or MVCT. Better visualization of the target can help to reduce the margins from CTV to PTV. MRgRT appears a feasible option in rectal cancer treatment offering potential benefits. MRgRT represents a promising technology for rectal cancer management.
