Les bibliothèques font partie du quotidien du chercheur en sciences humaines 1 . Elles sont multiples et deviennent même aujourd'hui numériques.
Nous avons nos bibliothèquespréférées ou spécialisées, nos places attitrées et nos petits rituels, comme le rappelait Michel Pastoureau dans son évocation de la bibliothèque Richelieu 2 : « Côté vert, côté gris. S'asseoir à la Bibliothèque nationale, travailler, lire, écrire, dormir, rêver, se souvenir d'avoir aimé ». Dans cet article, Michel Pastoureau, qui souligne également l'importante proportion de médiévistes qui fréquente la BNF Richelieu, rappelle que l'on ne va pas uniquement à la bibliothèque pour travailler : Les médiévistes, en effet, ne vont pas à la Bibliothèque nationale seulement pour travailler. Ils y vont aussi pour voir, pour être vus, pour rencontrer, pour « draguer ». Et pour ce faire il y a des places, des zones et, surtout, un côté : le côté vert. C'est le côté où l'on ne travaille pas, ou peu.
