The emergency rate of Cochivom via horniriivorax (Coquerel) (Diptera, Caliiphoridae) exposed to differentes pupation's substracts, in laboratory conditionsWith the purpose of studying the influence of substrate upon the development of pupae of Cochliom via hominivorax (Coquerei) , strain Universidade Rural, the foliowing substrates were used: autocleaved river sand, saw-dust and vermiculitis, dry and wet with distilled water. At the sarne time, another treatrnent comprehended pupae without substrate. Each treatment had four replications, using 20 mature iarvae per replication. The work was conducted in ciimatized chamber regulated at 270C, 65 ± 10% UR and 14-hour photophase. A remarkably higher percentile of aduits ernerged from the substrates with wet sand and vermiculitis (81.25 and 77.50%, respectively). Percent ranged of 66.00 to 55.00 inciued the pupai viability obtained for treatrnents with saw-dust, without substrate, autocleaved river sand, and vermiculitis with no water addition. The lesser nwnber of adults (32.50%) ernerged from thesubstrated with wet saw-dust, owing to microbiologicai contarnination. In this subs trate a small increase in relation to the other treatments. Emergence rythm on different treatments was presented.Recebido em 07/01/91. Parte de pesquisa financiada pela FINEP/PCTPA.
Aspects of the biology of Cochliomyia hominivorax (Coquerel) (Diptera: Calliphoridae), strain Universidade Rural, under laboratory conditions Differences on the behaviour and biologic expression of Cochliomyia hominivorox (Coquerel) (Diptera, Calliphoridae), the kiow-fly, has been observed and discussed. The purposeofthis study was to enlarge the informations related to the biology of this species, under laboratory conditions, considering a li neage obtained in UFRRJ. The experimental outline was entire ly by chance. Four repetitions were used in the different sta ges of the study. Caterpillars proceeding from0,05gofeggs in cubated at 270C during 24h, were transfered to a standard artificial diet. After the former 48 hours, this diet was changed everyday, until the abandon of the last larvae. Diets were kept warm (38°C) with the help of a water-bath. Pre-pupas, pupas and adulta were maintained in climate chamber, regulateci to 25°C, mi 60± 10% and 14h of photophase. The foliowing variables were avaliated -duration of larval stage (6.35 days), pupal stage (8-10 days), mature larval weight (63.25mg), emer gency rhythm, sexual rate, longevity and eggs' mass by day.Recebido em 16/11/90.
