The study aims to understand the participation status of the university students in the protest activities defined as digital or social activism, which are organized commonly through social media in the example of Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University. The survey to get data regarding the participation situtation of the students to various protest activities that starts online and are delivered offline and the effect of gender on this participation was applied to 320 individuals. The study results deduced out of testing three hypothesis in total showed that online activities have small effects on reality. The reactions are limited to subscribing or likes, and 80% of the students, that is four out of five students, do not participate in these physical offline activities. Also the percentages of respondents who answered negatively in participation to activist actions about 54% in women and 58% in men. It might be said that there is no a significant difference between genders.
As global integration process creates changes and new problem areas around individuals, people try to apply new ways for resilience. One of the methods used in this frame is social organization. Also, one of the most important tools of social organization in today's world is social media which emerge as a result of new communication technologies. The aim of this study is to reveal the role of social media in organizing society. In this context, social organization and social media were primarily defined. Some examples of the use of social media in social action and social organization have been emphasized. Data for the study was collected by using an online questionnaire. Research population of the study was Facebook users in Turkey. The sample of the study uses the convenience incidental sampling. The opinions about the role of social media in the social organization of Facebook users were examined. According to the results of the study, 72% of the participants agree that social media is a powerful tool in organizing social actions. 40% of the respondents think that social media contributes in strengthening democracy. It might be said that participants believe in the power of social media, but they never thought that this power will remain permanent.
ÖzDemokrasinin kurumsallaşması, teknolojideki ilerlemeler ve insan ilişkilerinin karmaşıklaşması gibi gelişmeler, insanların belli bir konuda ikna edilmesi için kullanılan yöntem ve teknikleri de etkilemiştir. Demokrasi sayesinde seçme ve seçilme hakkını kazanan, teknolojik gelişmelerle bilgiye erişimi kolaylaşan insanları etkilemek ve ikna etmek için baskı, zor kullanma ve tek yönlü bilgi aktarımından; karşılıklı iyi niyet, hoşgörü ve iki yönlü iletişimi temel alan yöntemlere doğru bir dönüşüm yaşanmıştır. Demokrasi ile seçme ve seçilme hakkına sahip olan bireylerin belli bir görüş ya da düşünce ekseninde ikna edilmesi ihtiyacı, halkla ilişkiler gibi hedef kitleyi ön plana alan uygulamaların siyasal iletişimde kullanılması gerekliliğini ve ihtiyacını ortaya çıkarmıştır. İki yönlü iletişimle hedef kitlelerle iyi niyete dayanan ilişkiler kurulmasını temel alan bir ikna yöntemi olarak halkla ilişkiler, zamanla siyasal alanda sıklıkla başvurulan bir faaliyet haline gelmiştir. Siyasal iletişim açısından halkla ilişkilerin başvurduğu yöntemlerden biri kamunun bilgilendirilmesidir. Seçim beyannameleri de son dönemde öne çıkan bilgilendirme araçlarından biridir. Bu çalışmada, 2002-2016 yılları arasında Türkiye'de gerçekleştirilen genel seçimler sonucunda TBMM'de temsil edilen partilerin seçim beyannameleri incelenmiştir. Crises pointing to a situation that creates confusion in normal living conditions have the potential to adversely affect people and societies. Health, which is one of the areas with high probability of crisis due to its structure, is a matter of concern to almost all members of society. The media, the primary source of the public in crisis situations, has an important role in defining and framing health problems. The news frames preferred by the media can affect public opinion about who will be responsible for the crisis, from whom to expect solution. In this study, which aims to show how the crises in the health field are reflected in the newspapers in the example of Turkey in 2017, news contents have been analyzed according to the news frames revealed Valkenburg et al. (1999). The study results show that the most preferred frame for health crisis news is the responsibility and the least preferred frame is the economic frame.
