Objective:The research was planned to determine the levels of emotional intelligence, humor styles of nurses, and correlations among them. Method: The research was conducted between December 2017 and March 2018. as a comparative-descriptive study with 89 nurses working in pediatric clinics of two hospitals inIstanbul. An introductory information form, the Modified Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale (SEIS) and the Humor Styles Questionnaire (HSQ) were used in the study. Results: There was a statistically significant positive correlation between optimism /mood regulation subscale with self-enhancing humor (r: 0.255; p: 0.016), aggressive humor (r: 0,270; p: 0.016) and self-defeating humor (r: 0.237; p: 0.025) and between SEIS total scores and aggressive humor subscale scores (r: 0.324, p: 0.002). Conclusion:In the research, it has been concluded that nurses working in a pediatric clinic had higher levels of emotional intelligence and negative-unhealthy humor styles and as the emotional intelligence of nurses increased, levels of self-enhancing, self-defeating and aggressive humor increased.
