The empathic tendency, communication skills, and critical thinking are the professional attitude behaviors that should be in a physiotherapist. The study was planned to investigate the effects of creative drama on empathic tendencies, communication skills and critical thinking of physiotherapy students. This study was carried out in Hasan Kalyoncu University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation between October 2017 and December 2018. 75 freshman physiotherapy students (44 women, 31 men) were included in the study. According to the results obtained from the study; there was no significant difference between empathic tendencies, communication skills and critical thinking skills of individuals in both groups (p> 0.05). When the creative drama group was compared in terms of gender, there was no significant difference between individuals' empathic tendencies, communication skills and critical thinking skills (p> 0.05). Similarly, when the control group was compared in terms of gender, there was no significant difference between individuals' empathic tendencies, communication skills and critical thinking skills (p> 0.05). We think that this study is a preliminary study on empathic tendencies, communication skills, and critical thinking skills of physiotherapy students. Parameters such as gender, different years of education, and welfare levels can affect empathic tendency, communication skills, and critical thinking skills. There are limited studies in the literature investigating the effectiveness of creative drama in the field of health. Therefore, this work can give an idea for subsequent studies. Objective: Kinesiophobia and fear to return to activity are common problems encountered following musculoskeletal injuries. The relationship between kinesiophobia and some psychological parameters has been investigated in the individuals with a history of ligament injury or fracture of lower extremity. Material and method: The study included 120 individuals (60 female, 60 male), 40 individuals with a history of ligament injury, 40 individuals with a history of fractures in the lower extremities and 40 healthy individuals. The participants were evaluated with Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK) and the State and Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-I&STAI-II). Number of fractures or ligament injuries, time of injury, time elapsed from the diagnosis and the duration of treatment were noted. Results: There were no significant differences between the groups in terms of STAI-I and STAI-II scores (p>0.05), however there were significant differences between groups in terms of TSK scores (p=0.001). There were no correlation between STAI-I and TSK scores and STAI-II and TSK scores (p>0.05). TSK scores of the individuals with a history of fracture were significantly higher than other groups (p=0.007). There were no significant differences between the TSK scores in terms of fracture location and ligament injury (p>0.05). Conclusion: It has been concluded that kinesiophobia was not related to emotional status and anxiety levels. Higher kinesiophobia scores of the individuals who had fractures could be related to longer periods of treatment.
Background/aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the levels of self-awareness, physical activity, sleep quality, depression and life satisfaction of university students during the Covid-19 pandemic period. Materials and methods: 200 university students (133 female, and 67 male) who agreed to participate in the study voluntarily were included. The average age of the students was 21.57±2.03. The students replied about the effects of pandemic process with Likert scale that 14 questions. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (Short Form) (IPAQ-SF), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Beck Depression Scale (BDI), Life Satisfaction Questionnaire (SLWS) were applied to students. Results: According to the results of the study; In the term of Covid-19, it was determined that physical activity and exercise habits were decreased. The participants with good sleep quality. Among the questions in the self-awareness questionnaire, the most frequently participated question by the students was 66% increase in sitting time and the least agreed 2% decrease in sitting time. Among these questions, the significance level is p = 0.01. Conclusion: During the Covid-19 process, students' self-awareness, physical activity levels, sleep quality and life satisfaction found to be high, and the severity of depression low during the online / distance education period. We think that long-term follow-up studies during the pandemic process will contribute to the literature.
Amaç: El dominansı; sağ dominant, sol dominant veya bilateral el kullanılması şeklinde görülmektedir. Sağ dominant bireylerin çoğunlukta olduğu toplumumuzda dominant ve non dominant tarafta tekrarlı hareketlerin hareket algısı ve motor öğrenmeye etkisinin incelenmesi ve yorumlanabilmesi amacıyla bu çalışma planlanmıştır. Yöntemler: Çalışmaya yaş ortalaması 23±1,99 yıl olan, 80'i kadın (%54,79), 66'i erkek (%45,21) olmak üzere 146 gönüllü sağ eli dominant olan üniversite öğrencisi katıldı. El tercihi Edinburg El Tercih Anketi ile değerlendirildi. Bireyler kalça, diz ve dirsekler 90⁰ fleksiyonda olacak şekilde masa kenarında pozisyonlandı. Ölçümler özel platform üzerinde yapıldı. Bireylerden, gözler kapalı iken, uzaklık ölçerden 25 cm mesafedeki merkez noktaya bardağı yerleştirmesi istendi. Ölçümler 3 kez dominant ve non dominant tarafta tekrarlandı. Merkez noktaya uzaklık ve sapma miktarı lazerli uzaklık ölçer ile cm cinsinden kaydedildi. İstatistiksel analizler sırasında SPSS 21.0 kullanıldı. Bulgular: Edinburg El tercih anketine göre bireylerin 42'ı (%28,76) kuvvetli sağ dominant, 90'ı (%65,06) zayıf sağ dominant, 9'u (%6,18) zayıf sol dominanttı. Bardak yerleştirme aktivitesi sırasında merkez noktadan uzaklıkların üç ölçüm için ortalaması dominant tarafta 2,56±1,91 cm, non dominant taraf için ise 2,57±1,87 cm'di. Dominant ve non-dominant el açısından merkez noktadan uzaklık ölçümleri açısından anlamlı fark bulunmadı (p>0,05). This study was planned in order to examine and interpret the motion perception and motor learning of the upper extremity dominant and non-dominant side. Methods:The study was carried out with 146 volunteer university students with right-hand dominancy. The mean age of the participants was 23.0 ± 1.99, 80 of them were female (54.79%), and 66 of them were male (45.21%). Hand preference was evaluated by the Edinburgh Hand Preference Questionnaire. The participants were positioned at the table edge with the hip, knee, and elbows at 90 degrees flexion. Measurements were made on a special platform. The participants were asked to place the glass at the center point, which is distance from 25 cm the rangefinder, while the eyes were closed. The measurements were repeated 3 times on both the dominant and non-dominant sides. The distance and deviation rate from the center point were recorded in cm with the laser rangefinder. SPSS 21.0 program was used in the analysis. Results: According to the Edinburg Hand Preference Questionnaire, 42 of the individuals (28.76%) were strong right dominant, 95 (65.06%) were weak right dominant, and 9 (6.18%) were weak left dominant.
