Objetivo: Descrever aspectos relacionados à automedicação com drogas psicotrópicas em estudantes. Métodos: Consistiu de uma revisão integrativa da literatura que é um método cuja finalidade é reunir e sumarizar conhecimentos apresentados por outros autores sobre determinada temática. Foram selecionados inicialmente um rol de 150 artigos catalogados das plataformas de busca BVS, Web of Science e Scopus, após a utilização dos filtros e da leitura na íntegra, 10 artigos compuseram o banco de dados final. Resultados: A automedicação com psicotrópicos em estudantes universitários é uma prática comum, evidenciando um problema de saúde pública. Entre as justificativas para uso dos psicotrópicos estão as atividades laborais do ensino superior, que muitas vezes sobrecarregam os estudantes, especialmente nesses tempos de pandemia, bem como as manifestações psicoemocionais relacionadas à vida contemporânea. As principais fontes de informação sobre dúvidas e aconselhamentos tirados foram com amigos, família, farmacêutico. Conclusão: Observa-se que os achados sugerem elevada prevalência de automedicação de psicotrópicos e que estão agrupados em dois blocos sendo o primeiro contendo as classes de ansiolíticos, antidepressivos e estimulantes do SNC, o segundo agrupam-se o uso do álcool, tabaco e substâncias ilícitas. Portanto, é necessário capacitar os estudantes para o uso racional e promover ações preventivas de educação em saúde sobre automedicação.
