O impacto do distanciamento social é especialmente problemático para os idosos, pois muitos já sofriam violência em casa e outros estão vivendo de forma mais intensa, nesse período de pandemia. O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar as notícias relacionadas à violência contra idosos veiculadas no Brasil no período da pandemia através de uma pesquisa etnográfica por meio da internet (netnografia). Realizou-se busca através de navegador da internet utilizando a seguinte frase “Violência contra idosos no Estado de _______ durante a pandemia”, sendo o espaço em branco preenchido pelas 27 unidades federativas, sendo 26 Estados e um Distrito Federal. A região Nordeste apresentou o maior número de notícias e o estado de Pernambuco o maior percentual de aumento informado. Os casos mais frequentes foram de negligência, violência física, psicológica e verbal. As notícias relacionaram o aumento das denúncias ao fato de o isolamento propiciar o estresse e os atritos familiares, além de intensificar situações de negligência já existentes antes da pandemia. A redução relatada em alguns estados pode estar relacionada à subnotificação por dificuldade de acesso aos meios de denúncia ou pelo fato de o responsável pela violência geralmente ser um parente próximo do idoso.
No processo de envelhecimento ocorrem alterações que podem repercutir no estado nutricional como a perda de massa muscular. Condições crônicas nos idosos podem aumentar a necessidade e o tempo de hospitalização. Os objetivos deste trabalho foram avaliar os indicadores de reserva muscular na admissão, associar os indicadores nutricionais ao tempo de internação hospitalar (TIH) em idosos e correlacionar esses indicadores. Foram avaliados: índice de massa corporal (IMC), circunferência do braço (CB), área muscular do braço corrigida (AMBc), espessura do músculo adutor do polegar (EMAP), o índice do músculo adutor do polegar (iMAP) e circunferência da panturrilha (CP). O TIH foi categorizado em ≤ a 10 dias e > que 10 dias. A análise estatística foi realizada no programa SPSS versão 13.0, utilizando teste de qui-quadrado para associação, teste t para amostras independentes na comparação de médias entre dois grupos e o coeficiente de correlação de Pearson, com 95% de intervalo de confiança. Participaram 73 idosos, com idade media de 76,32±8,47 anos, dos quais 65,8% (n= 48) eram mulheres e 67,1% (n=49) classificaramse no TIH ≤ a 10 dias, com mediana de 10,36 [1-55] dias. Não houve associação entre os indicadores de reserva muscular e o TIH (p>0.05). A prevalência de desnutrição foi de: 42,5% (n=31) pelo IMC, cuja media encontrada na amostra foi 22,94±4,59 Kg/m 2 ; de 45,2 % (n=33) pela CB; de 41,3% (n=19) pela AMBc nos indivíduos que tinham esta avaliação; de 88,6% (n=39) naqueles com avaliação da EMAP e de 50,7% (n=34) pela CP nos pacientes avaliados. A prevalência de desnutrição foi elevada na amostra, porém não se observou associação com o TIH. A CB apresentou correlação de moderada a forte com todos os parâmetros de reserva muscular (p<0.01), demonstrando ser um bom indicador do estado nutricional en idosos.
