RESUMOAs hérnias inguinais são responsáveis por um número expressivo de procedimentos realizados todos os anos, com uma prevalência mundial de 1,5% e uma significativa taxa de complicações pós-operatórias. Nessa seara existem artigos atuais que estabelecem relação entre fatores de risco e/ou predisponentes que podem ser úteis para o desenvolvimento de terapêuticas individualizadas, afim de otimizar as taxas de complicações pós-operatórias e melhorar a atuação preventiva de recidiva das hérnias inguinais. Nesse artigo estão compilados nexos causais novos na literatura tais como explicações bioquímicas e genéticas para um entendimento mais claro dos mecanismos relacionados ao tema hérnias inguinais.

Revisão de literatura sobre as Síndromes de Guillain-Barré e Polineuropatia desmielinizante inflamatória crônica. Nesse estudo, os bancos de dados para a pesquisa foram: Scielo, PubMed, MedLine e LILACS. As palavras chaves "Polineuropatia", "Síndrome de Guillain-Barré" e" Polirradiculoneuropatia Desmielinizante Inflamatória Crônica" foram escolhidas e os artigos selecionados sem definição de datas ou restrição de publicação. Excluindo a duração da evolução, o quadro agudo e formas crônicas são semelhantes em muitos aspectos. Ambos são polirradiculoneuropatias generalizadas, geralmente com citoalbuminologia e dissociação do líquido cefalorraquidiano; ambos nervos exibem anormalidades de condução características de uma neuropatia desmielinizante (redução da velocidade de condução e bloqueio de condução em nervos motores), e patologicamente, ambas mostram inflamação perivenosa multifocal semelhante a infiltrados. Porém, existem diferenças importantes, as mais evidentes são os modos de evolução, respostas ao tratamento e prognóstico. A polineuropatia desmielinizante inflamatória crônica é uma doença comum, embora subdiagnosticada e potencialmente tratável, com prevalência de cerca de 0,5 por 100.000 crianças e 1 a 2 por 100.000 adultos. Semelhanças clínicas com a variante aguda da polineuropatia desmielinizante inflamatória (síndrome de Guillain-Barré) e os efeitos benéficos da imunossupressão terapia sugerem uma patogênese imunomediada. Desde as primeiras descrições de pacientes com polineuropatias crônicas responsivas a corticosteroides por Austin,o espectro da apresentação clínica e do arsenal de diagnóstico aumentaram e outras opções terapêuticas evoluíram.
