O objetivo deste trabalho é refletir sobre a construção do conceito de tempo a partir de uma experiência realizada com alunos do segundo ano do primeiro ciclo do Ensino Fundamental, na qual se buscou destacar as diferenças existentes nas formas de medir o tempo entre diferentes grupos sociais, a fim de elucidar o caráter construtivo e artificial desse conceito. Neste sentido, o trabalho pedagógico aqui analisado optou por s medida de tempo enquanto categoria construída socialmente e, portanto, correspondente a uma representação cultural, a um sistema de significação, a uma forma de atribuição de sentido arbitrário, indeterminado e associado às relações de poder que o constituem. Nosso objetivo nesse texto é indicar as trilhas curriculares criadas para a realização de tal processo. Palavras-chave: etnomatemática; currículo; medida de tempo.
