<p>Introducción. Las queilitis comisurales son reacciones inflamatorias que se manifiestan clínicamente como descamaciones, erosiones y fisuras radiadas o transversales que continúan el plano de oclusión labial con sintomatología variable y que posteriormente se extiende a la piel. El objetivo del trabajo consistió en la evaluación de la tintura de propóleos al 5% en el tratamiento de las queilitis angulares y de la posible reacción adversa medicamentosa. Materiales y Método. El estudio se realizó en pacientes de ambos sexos, a partir de los 15 años de edad con diagnóstico clínico de queilitis comisural. Previo consentimiento por escrito, se seleccionaron en forma aleatorizada simple para conformar dos grupos. El primer grupo, tomado como control, recibió tratamiento tradicional. El segundo grupo denominado experimental recibió la formulación objeto de estudio, la tintura de propóleos al 5%. Resultados. Dan cuenta de una probable preponderancia cuantitativa de la formulación objeto de estudio en comparación con la formulación tradicional de betametasona valerato a 0,1%. Conclusiones. La valoración comparativa de las evoluciones de los grupos demuestra que ambas medicaciones reducen en grado variable la intensidad de los signos y la sintomatología, sin efecto medicamentoso adverso.</p>
<p>Las queilitis por contacto son procesos patológicos de etiología multifactorial de origen externo que generan lesiones en el bermellón de los labios, en algunos casos se acompaña por una dermatitis contigua. Este tipo de queilitis recibe esta denominación debido al mecanismo de acción de la noxa productora, la cual actúa por contacto en la superficie labial produciendo una reacción antígeno anticuerpo. Los agentes sensibilizantes y desencadenantes del proceso inflamatorio son de origen físico y químico en sus diversas formas. Los físicos son los rayos actínicos y ultravioletas. Los químicos son más numerosos, como los cosméticos, alimentos, pastas y cepillos dentales. La incidencia es alta en el sexo femenino y en el labio inferior por su mayor superficie. El objetivo de este estudio fue realizar una evaluación comparativa de la crema de propóleos en el tratamiento de las queilitis por contacto y de la posible reacción adversa medicamentosa. Se llevó a cabo en pacientes de ambos sexos, a partir de los 15 años con diagnóstico clínico de queilitis por contacto, los que fueron asignados en forma aleatorizada simple en dos grupos. El primer grupo de control, recibió tratamiento tradicional. El segundo grupo experimental recibió la formulación objeto de estudio, la crema de propóleos. Ambas medicaciones redujeron de manera significativa la intensidad de la sintomatología y los signos sin efectos adversos en pacientes con queilitis por contacto. La formulación magistral de crema de propóleos objeto del presente estudio, ha demostrado ser efectiva en el tratamiento de las queilitis por contacto.</p>
<p>Las queilitis por contacto crónicas son patologías con una alta incidencia, que cursa con escasa sintomatología, siendo sus probables transformaciones los motivos por la cual merezca ser atendida. El proceso es una reacción inflamatoria inespecífica a la acción de agentes exógenos físicos como la luz actínica, los rayos ultravioletas, y químicas como cosméticos, alimentos, galatos, dentífricos, cepillos dentales, metales, prótesis dentales y plantas. La incidencia es mayor en el labio inferior y preferentemente en el sexo femenino. El linimento óleo calcáreo ha demostrado ser de utilidad en el tratamiento sintomático de las queilitis por contacto agudas. El presente trabajo busca evaluar la acción terapéutica del linimento óleo calcáreo en el tratamiento de las queilitis por contacto crónicas.</p>
