Abstract. The article describes the detailed example of placement of artificial filter arrays in one of Kuzbass open pits. It is proved that the use of the existing rock dump as an artificial filter array allows cleaning the quarry wastewater to the required parameters. Therefore, for water purification, it is possible to pile a new array as well as to use the existing dump, which will reduce the operating costs and the land consumption of open pit mining operations. Also, a brief methodology for determining the parameters of the artificial filter array is given in the article, taking into account the volume of contaminated water, the degree of its contamination and the location of the filter. The proposed complex of measures significantly improves the geo-ecological situation of mining region.
The negative effect made by mining enterprises on the natural environment has complex origination. The intensive pollution is observed because of the influence of mineral deposits open-pit mining on the atmosphere, water resources and landscape complexes. Complex processes of environmental anthropogenic changes caused by open pits' operations have brought to light the problem of surface water pollution near large mining segments. Industrial wastewater of mining enterprises has a significant impact on the natural environment. In connection with the continuous and significant increase in the volume of mining, the amount of wastewater from mines, quarries and processing plants is constantly increasing. The main components of wastewater from operating mining enterprises are mine (quarry) waters, as well as runoff from atmospheric waters polluted by water erosion of dumps and mineral stacks. The paper describes the possible ways of quarry wastewater purifying -using hydrocyclones and artificial filtering arrays made from overburden rock.
Abstract. Over the last 10 years the world consumption of coal has grown almost by 50%. Coal is one of the main energy resources capable to satisfy basic energy demands of increasing population and developing world economy. On January 24, 2012 the long-term Coal Industry Development Program for the period till 2030 was approved in Russia. According to this Program coal mining in Kuzbass in 2030 will make 260 million tonns of coal per year. Development of the coal industry is impossible without upgrade of coal production by avoiding inefficient technological, organizational and economic solutions. Off the road (OTR) tires play an important role in ensuring effective, continuous and safe work of mining motor transport.
Quarry wastewater is the main pollutant for the surface and underground natural water bodies during mining operations. Negative impact is expressed in contamination of natural reservoirs with fine suspended particles and salt solutions. To reduce the harmful impact of quarry wastewater they are treated using artificial filtering massifs. Such massifs are commonly constructed using artificial and natural sorbents. The retention of particles in the filtering layer is the result of two main processes: the adhesion of fine particles of suspension to the surface of the particles of the artificial filtering massif and the jamming of coarser particles in the pores of the filter layer. Simultaneously with the processes of contaminants capture, the process of contaminants washing out of the filter array may occur. It occurs when the particle size distribution of the filter layer is unappropriated and filtration speeds are high, and may be accompanied by deformation of the filter media.
