RESUMOA redução da capacidade de resposta imunológica e a maior predisposição a infecções parasitárias e virais, principalmente durante os períodos de mielosupressão aumenta o risco de morte e piora a qualidade de vida dos pacientes com câncer. O objetivo foi avaliar a soroprevalência de toxoplasmose, sífilis, rubéola, hepatites, HIV, citomegalovirose (CMV), mononucleose (EBV) e doença de Chagas entre pacientes oncológicos ao diagnóstico. Estudo observacional transversal de revisão dos prontuários dos pacientes admitidos em um hospital universitário para avaliação dos resultados das sorologias ao diagnóstico da doença neoplásica. A idade mediana dos pacientes foi de 7,8 anos. Houve leve predomínio do sexo masculino (57,6%); leucemia aguda foi o diagnóstico de 58,8% dos pacientes. Observou-se alta prevalência de susceptibilidade para toxoplasmose (95%) e alta prevalência de exposição prévia aos vírus EBV, CMV e rubéola (83,3%; 75,9% e 86,5%; respectivamente). Não foi identificado infecção por Treponema pallidum, HIV e HTLV nesta população. Pacientes com leucemia e linfoma apresentaram maior taxa de exposição prévia ao EBV quando comparados aqueles com tumor sólido (83,9% vs. 80%, p < 0,05). Observou-se baixa soroprevalência de infecção parasitária aguda, assim como alta prevalência de exposição prévia aos vírus da rubéola, mononucleose e citomegalovirose.
