Objective: to analyze the association between domestic violence against women and quality of life. Method: a cross-sectional population-based household survey conducted with women 18 years and older, using a stratified sample by neighborhoods. For analysis, prevalence of domestic violence and quality of life index was verified and logistic regression was used to determine associations, with a significance level of 5%. Results: 424 women who had a prevalence of domestic violence of 54.4% and a quality of life index of 61.59 participated in this study. It was verified, through logistic regression, that domestic violence is associated with women's quality of life (p=0,017). The observed variables that influence the occurrence of domestic violence were in the social relations domain (p=0,000), provision of medical treatment for women (p=0,019) and safety (p=0,006). Conclusion: the study confirmed the evidence of an association between domestic violence against women and quality of life, a situation that reaffirms the importance of constructing public policies focused on gender emancipation.
Percepção da imagem corporal e fatores associados em idosos residentes em município do nordeste brasileiro: um estudo populacionalBody image perception and associated factors among elderly residents in a city in northeast Brazil: a population-based study
Reasonable validity and moderate concordance of self-reported information on hypertension was observed, which reinforces the idea that this information can be used as strategy for detecting the disease prevalence in this population. However, because of nonachievement of excellence in the validity and reliability of the measured blood pressure, this information should be carefully considered for the strategic planning of health services.
Background:The detection of the validity and concordance of selfreported hypertension (HBP) becomes necessary to increase the reliability of the reported information, given that errors in determining the prevalence of the disease can influence the quality of information and, therefore, the plans of action on public health policies. To assess the validity and concordance of self-reported HBP in the elderly population they registered in the Family Health Strategy (FHS) in a city of the Northeastern Brazil. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study conducted with individuals aged 60 or over registered in the FHS in the city of Campina Grande-PB. To check the validity and reliability of the report, the sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive (PPV) and negative values (NPV) were calculated with respect to demographic and socioeconomic variables, lifestyle and self-reported morbidity. The Kappa test was used to verify the agreement between diagnosis and disease report. Statistical application SPSS 22.0 and 5% significance level were used.
Results:The study included 420 of elderly people (68.3% women).Excellent sensitivity (81.7%), specificity (98.7%), PPV (99.6%) and moderate NPV (56.0%) were observed, as well as substantial agreement of HBP report.
Conclusion:This study showed validity and substantial agreement of self-reported HBP among of elderly people, suggesting that selfreported morbidity can be used as a tool for the identification of HBP prevalence; thus, assisting health services in coping with the problem.
