Teaching Factory or TEFA is a production / service-based learning method in order to produce competent graduates according to the needs of the business world / industry. Through the TEFA learning method students will adapt directly to industrial conditions and situations, so that they can instill a work mentality, improve managerial abilities and be able to produce products that have industrial quality standards. The purpose of this research is to answer the questions of research about how the effect of participating student in TEFA on learning outcomes. This study uses the theory of participation which has different levels, so that this can affect different learning outcomes as well. The research was conducted using a comparative quantitative approach and ex post facto research types, which means the data is collected after the event or issue under study occurs.. The research was conducted at D3 TPPP study program Polytechnic of Marine and Fisheries Karawang and Sidoarjo from September 2019 to February 2020 . The number of students in D3 TPPP study program Polytechnic of Marine and Fisheries Karawang is 85, while Sidoarjo is 98, taking into account a population of less than 100 , then this study uses the entire population as the research sample. The results showed that the participation of students in TEFA had a positive and significant effect on learning outcomes at both Polytechnics. However, there are differences in learning outcomes between the two, this is due to differences in the level of participation of students. The results of this study, contribute as a reference for both vocational education institutions and educators, to design the participation of student in TEFA, and to add the TEFA study literature, specifically describing how the differences students participation can influence the differences learning outcomes in the application of TEFA learning models.
