Die im ~lteren Schrifttum niedergelegten Einzelf~lle yon gangr~nSsen Vorg/~ngen, ~ls deren Urbild die Noma anzusehen ist, erfuhren in neuerer Zeit besonders durch die erschSpfende Monogq'aphie von Zinserling eine Sichtung und wertvolle Ergs besonders hinsichttich der Lokalisation, der Rolle der dabei auftretenden Spaltpilze and. der Ursache dieser schweren Erkrankung.Bei dem grogen 3Iaterial, das besonders in RuBland w/~hrend der Nachkriegs-und Hungerjakre znr Verfiigung stand, fanden sich beztiglieh einer typischen Lokalisation 2 Gruppen der gangrs Ver/tnderungen. Bei einer ,,oberen" Gruppe hand.elt es sich hanpts/~ehlich um Ver/~nde-rungen in der MundhShle and im ~aehen, welche 45,50/0 bzw. 25~ betragen, und einer viel selteneren ,,unteren" Gruppe, welche in 17,2~ gangr/~n6se Ver~ndeIungen des Diekdarms, in 4,7~ solehe der Aftergegend und in 7,80/0 solche der s weiblichen Gesehleehtsorgane betrafen. Die gangr~nSsen Ver~nd.erungen im lgachen und an den Gaumenmandeln, die in vorliegender Arbeit uns allein beseh~ftigen soIlen, zeigten fast stets den gleiehen Typus eines schwarzen, gangr/~n6sen Zerfalls mit scharfem putridem Gerueh. Am Rande der sehwarzen Zerfallszone waren die charakteristisehen weiBlichgelben Streifen nekrotisehen Gewebes aMfallend. Bei s~mtliehen im /~lteren Sehrifttum und neuerdings dureh Zinserling besehriebenen F/~llen wird beziiglich der in der gangrgnSsen Gewebszone anftretenden Spaltpilze iibereinstimmend ein gemeinsames Anftreten yon Spirochs und dem Bacillus fusiformis hervorgehoben. Ffir die Bedeutung dieser Symbiose gerade bei den gangr/~n6sen Erkrankungen der MnndhShle und des Raehens konnten Beweise aus der Beobaehtnng frischer Fglle erbraeht werden, bei denen trotz Anwesenheit groBer Mengen yon spindetfSrmigen Bacillen die
