This paper describes the design and prototype construction of a novel Solid State Transformer. Replacing distribution transformers with solid state devices provides control over the waveshapes and output voltage and can therefore mitigate many power quality problems. A 10kVA prototype was constructed to transform 7200V single phase to 240/120V and has been tested to one-half design voltage.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
