Esta investigación se inscribe en la corriente de estudios que adopta el enfoque de derechos para el análisis de la cuestión juvenil. Desde este paradigma, se sostiene que la construcción de la categoría generación nini homogeneiza irreflexivamente la realidad de las juventudes que no estudian ni trabajan. El artículo tiene como objetivo revelar la importante presencia de los trabajos no remunerados en la población juvenil, poniendo en discusión la relevancia teórica y empírica de la categoría nini. Además, el trabajo pone en evidencia cómo ciertos factores clave como el género, la edad, el nivel educativo, el nivel de ingresos del hogar y la presencia de niños en el hogar, influyen en las trayectorias juveniles. Se utiliza la Encuesta sobre Trabajo No Remunerado y Uso del Tiempo, realizada por el Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas y Censos de Argentina en el año 2013. Los resultados contribuyen a repensar el enfoque sobre la inactividad de las personas jóvenes y establecer nuevos lineamientos de las políticas públicas para abordar la cuestión juvenil.
Los autores analizan las formas en que los Estados de América Latina y el Caribe producen información sobre la población juvenil, mediante una sistematización de las encuestas nacionales sobre juventudes realizadas en dieciocho países entre 1987 y 2019, y de entrevistas a responsables de estas encuestas en cuatro países que las aplican con regularidad. Esto permite conocer los factores que inciden en la sistematicidad, los usos y las valoraciones que han tenido los datos producidos, y en la relevancia que estos instrumentos adquieren en el continente.
En su carácter de revisión de tema, el objetivo central del artículo consiste en indagar sobre el vínculo existente entre un tipo de proyecto de gobierno y el desarrollo que el Estado nacional hace de institucionalidad juvenil. Centrándose en el caso argentino, se analiza si, dado el «giro a la izquierda» que representó el proyecto de gobierno kirchnerista (2003)(2004)(2005)(2006)(2007)(2008)(2009)(2010)(2011)(2012)(2013)(2014)(2015), existieron rupturas significativas en la producción de institucionalidad pública juvenil en el ámbito nacional, en comparación con lo desarrollado en la materia por los gobiernos durante la «larga década neoliberal » (1989-2003). El presente trabajo estudia, a partir de fuentes secundarias, el nivel de la administración que se ocupa específicamente de los problemas de la juventud, es decir, los organismos gubernamentales de juventud. Para ello se incluye un análisis cualitativo de las lógicas con que se aborda la cuestión juvenil en los programas y dispositivos que el organismo implementa, capacidades estatales desarrolladas y el rol y peso político del organismo en el entramado institucional general de las políticas juveniles implementadas por el Estado nacional.

El suicidio se ha convertido en una acuciante problemática social y de salud pública a nivel mundial. Particularmente en Argentina, en los últimos 25 años la mortalidad por suicidio se triplicó en la población joven y este tipo de defunciones se ha constituido en la segunda causa de muerte en la franja de 10 a 19 años. A partir de los datos que brinda la Encuesta Mundial de Salud Escolar, proyecto de la OMS, implementada en Argentina en 2012, se realiza un abordaje respecto a la ideación y planificación de suicidio, así como a factores asociados al fenómeno en estudiantes entre 13 y 15 años. A partir de modelos de regresión logística, se analiza el efecto de factores de riesgo y factores protectores. Se observa que la exposición a factores de riesgo o a factores protectores efectivamente aumenta, en el caso de los primeros, o disminuye —en el caso de los segundos— el riesgo de experimentar un intento de suicidio. Además, cuando se analiza el término de relación condicional, se observa que el impacto de cada uno de ellos es diferente entre los varones y mujeres, siendo estas últimas, en general, las más vulnerables. Asimismo, que el efecto combinado de distintos factores puede potenciar el riesgo de experimentar un intento de suicidio.
