Braz. J. of Develop., Curitiba, v. 6, n. 2,p.9523-9540 feb. 2020. ABSTRACTThe present study seeks to establish the problem of the right to information as a means of defending obstetric violence. This is because, in Brazil, childbirths took place within the home, often conducted by midwives, and the doctor was called only in cases of relevant complexity and assured to people with a purchasing power. However, this paradigm changed in the twentieth century, with the establishment of clinics and hospitals specializing in childbirth of any nature or complexity. In this tuning fork, it is also identified an early spread that hospital deliveries through caesarean sections were safer and minimized the parturient's sufferings and the drastic reduction of labor time. Violence belies the lack of knowledge of the parturients themselves regarding the procedure adopted for childbirth and the actual damage that can be caused to themselves and their baby, masking the true autonomy in the choice of the means of delivery. Given this problem, the present scientific work intends to analyze if the parturients are aware of the benefits and harms, to themselves and the unborn, by the chosen means of delivery and, also, if there is preparation of the medical team in the choice of the normal delivery. Therefore, the deductive method was chosen, based on bibliographical references published in physical and digital media to solve the scientific hypothesis aligned in this research.
