Resumo Este artigo analisa efeitos de sonolência construídos no interior três filmes recentes: Honra dos cavaleiros (Albert Serra), Tio Boonmee (Apichatpong Weerasethakul) e Five (Abbas Kiarostami). Nossa hipótese aponta como o sono, assumido como uma reação possível do espectador ante a lentidão de tais filmes, aparece como subproduto de uma nova relação entre espectador e tela, que, por sua vez, performa novas torções em um problema subjetivo já reconhecido por Deleuze em A Imagem-Tempo: a ruptura na ligação entre homem/mulher e mundo.
Este artigo traça dois movimentos. Primeiro, mobilizando o aparato conceitual construído por Gilles Deleuze, combinado a comentários sobre campo e quadro de autores como Bonitzer, Sabouraud, Oliveira Junior e André Parente, procura elaborar a função do Campo na imagem-movimento e na imagem-tempo, a partir de suas relações com o virtual. Em seguida, o artigo busca mostrar como Cópia fiel (2010), de Abbas Kiarostami, comparado a filmes anteriores do diretor, aponta para outro estatuto de imagem, em que o visível não mais é organizado sob a forma de Campo, mas por uma composição de linhas de força.
Recentemente, teóricos e críticos cinematográficos observaram o aparecimento, nas últimas três décadas, de um “cinema de lentidão”. O conceito de Slow Cinema é recuperado neste artigo, buscando possíveis conexões históricas e culturais com outras experiências de desaceleração do tempo. Categorias como flâneur (Benjamin), o blasé (Simmel) e o pensamento sobre a hesitação, na filosofia de Bergson, já apontavam para a descompressão da duração do intervalo entre estímulo e resposta. O conceito de imagem-tempo (Deleuze) auxilia-nos a explorar o surgimento de uma ética da lentidão no cinema moderno. Por fim, analisando filmes de Wim Wenders, Abbas Kiarostami e Cristi Puiu, sugerimos que o Slow Cinema investe numa temporalização das passagens de causa e efeito como modo de produção de uma situação favorável à reconexão entre sujeito e mundo.
O cinema de Pedro Costa é atravessado pelas figuras humanas, como Vanda Duarte e Ventura, que emergem em uma tensão entre corpo, olhar e imagem. Na aparição desses personagens, sempre em permanente status nascendi, procuramos discutir a carnalidade como aquilo que é tramado por energias negativas que destituem toda forma de implantação de um estatuto ontológico. Buscando homologias entre imagem cinematográfica e filosofia – em conexão com o pensamento do filósofo brasileiro Vladimir Safatle – reconhecemos o negativo como categoria estética central, com que se produz uma imagem proletária, altamente magnetizada por um poder de revolta.
Resumo: Trata-se de uma crítica de Santiago, de 2007, filme de João Moreira Salles, que tem por tema sua tentativa fracassada de realizar um documentário sobre seu ex-mordomo, Santiago, em 1992. Proponho uma análise do narrador a fim de interpretar a tomada de consciência do sujeito autoral da obra sobre a desigualdade de poder entre o diretor e o objeto. Tentando uma abordagem que se aproxime da sensibilidade humana requisitada pela obra, compreendo que o filme desenvolve a expressão de uma tragédia epistêmica e social que provoca o dilaceramento da percepção subjetiva, e cuja existência já estava ancorada na relação patrão/empregado sob a qual o cineasta e seu personagem se conheceram e travaram afeto.Palavras-chave: crítica de arte, Sociologia do cinema, documentário, narrador, sujeito. Às voltas com o tempo fissurado: tentativa de narrarMinuto 1. Uma fotografia envolta por uma moldura está disposta solitária sobre uma mesinha, vista em plano médio. O próprio plano que vemos, com o preto--e-branco que nos acompanhará por todo o filme (quebrado apenas na exibição de trechos de uma filmagem familiar da infância do narrador e de um filme com Fred Astaire e Cyd Charrisse), sugere uma outra fotografia: por trás da mesinha, podemos ver um estilizado jogo de luzes e sombras que nos indica estarmos diante de uma * Graduando em Audiovisual -UFF.
