O potencial produtivo do milho está relacionado ao genótipo, que é responsável por parte do rendimento final devido ao potencial genético, tendo relação direta perante condições edafoclimáticas de cada local e o manejo adotado. Desta forma, objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar a viabilidade econômica de genótipos de milho segunda safra em sistema de semeadura direta na região Oeste do Paraná. O experimento foi instalado em delineamento de blocos casualizados com sete genótipos de milho, sendo; híbrido simples, híbrido simples modificado, híbrido duplo, híbrido triplo, variedade, milho crioulo, material caseiro 1 e material caseiro 2 com quatro repetições em espaçamento de 0,45 m. Foram avaliados os componentes de produção da cultura, com exceção da massa de mil grãos. Posteriormente os dados foram submetidos a análise de variância pelo teste F e posteriormente as médias foram submetidas a comparação utilizando o teste de Tukey, pelo software SISVAR. Houve diferenças entre os tratamentos apenas em duas variáveis, onde os materiais de maior variabilidade genética obtiveram maior comprimento de espiga, entretanto, maior falha de formação de grãos na extremidade apical da espiga. Apesar de não haver diferença estatística entre os tratamentos para a produtividade final, pela estimativa realizada, verifica-se a importância de se utilizar materiais certificados e de evolução quanto ao melhoramento genético, onde o uso do híbrido triplo, pode ser mais vantajoso ao produtor rural nesta época de cultivo com base no custo de obtenção do genótipo e por obterem a mesma produtividade.
