Objetivo: Investigar, na percepção de profissionais da saúde, o uso da Cannabis sativa no tratamento dos sintomas e comorbidades associadas ao Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA). Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, com utilização de grupo focal para coleta de dados. A população-alvo foi constituída por profissionais da saúde diretamente ligadas ao tratamento e/ou estudo de crianças com o TEA. Resultados: Após análise das respostas das participantes foram identificadas duas categorias: benefícios do uso da Cannabis sativa em crianças com o TEA e desafios encontrados no uso da Cannabis. Os benefícios se relacionam com a melhora dos sintomas associados ao TEA e dentre os desafios, destacaram-se o acesso à Cannabis; o pouco conhecimento sobre sua aplicação no TEA; e a resposta não eficaz em certos casos; além do preconceito de sua utilização. Conclusão: O uso da Cannabis sativa e de seus metabólitos melhora os sintomas do TEA, aumentando a qualidade de vida dos portadores e de seus cuidadores. Os desafios identificados para seu uso devem ser ultrapassados para que melhorar seu acesso, tornando-se uma alternativa mais viável para o tratamento dos sintomas associados ao TEA.
