A bexiga neurogênica (BN) é caracterizada por qualquer alteração da função da bexiga secundária a uma lesão neurológica. A principal causa de BN em crianças é a Espinha Bífida (EB), sendo a malformação mais frequente a Mielomeningocele (MMC) a nível lombossacral. A BN tem uma apresentação heterogênea que reflete o complexo sistema de controle cerebral-bexiga-uretra e, a depender do local da lesão no eixo neurológico, pode culminar com incontinência urinária ou retenção urinária e até mesmo altas pressões vesicais levando a falência renal no futuro. O diagnóstico precoce influência diretamente no manejo terapêutico com o intuito de evitar danos renais, evitar infecções do trato urinário e buscar ou manter a continência da criança.
