Após a sua reinserção nos currículos brasileiros do ensino médio, a Sociologia torna-se lugar para diferentes discussões do cotidiano na sociedade, no entanto, para isso é necessário que os professores (as) se apropriem de ferramentas para que a discussão torne-se mais interessante e efetiva para o aprendizado dos alunos nessa fase do ensino. Nesse sentido, este trabalho é fruto da realização de uma pesquisa de cunho qualitativo com a finalidade investigar as práticas docentes no tocante às metodologias e os recursos didáticos que estão sendo utilizados pelos professores (as) que lecionam a disciplina de Sociologia no ensino médio na rede pública de ensino de duas regiões distintas e com modelos de escolas diferentes. Na região do Cariri paraibano foram investigadas cinco escolas sendo duas integrais, uma integral técnica e duas regulares que concentravam seis professores (as) ministrando a disciplina. Já na outra região, Senador Canedo – GO, foram investigadas cinco escolas, sendo quatro regulares e uma militar que concentram cinco professores (as) ministrando a disciplina. Como instrumento/técnica de coleta de dados foram utilizados questionários com perguntas abertas e fechadas, foi usada também observações não participantes durantes as aulas. Quanto a análise dos dados foi usada Análise de Conteúdo de Bardin, (2009). Foi detectado que a presença de profissionais de outras áreas ministrando a disciplina de Sociologia ainda persiste em número considerável, haja vista que dos 11 pesquisados, 07 tinham formação diferente da que lecionavam, ou seja, não eram formados na área de Sociologia ou Ciências Sociais. Foi percebido que as escolas dispõem de alguns recursos didáticos com algumas pequenas variações, porém, quanto às metodologias de ensino variaram bastante principalmente quando os professores (as) tinham uma formação diferente da área em que estava atuando no momento da pesquisa, acarretando em um ensino defasado e mais, tornando a disciplina muitas vezes desinteressante para o alunado por desconhecer as metodologias possíveis de utilização em sala de aula.
