Brazilian nursing has been trying to discuss social-political questions that interfere in health and higher as well as technical education. One of the challenges posed nowadays is the population's aging, which occurs at an accelerated rate and demands redefinition of roles and actions to attend to the elderly population. This case study aimed to understand the gerontological training of nursing technicians from a cultural approach, using a qualitative methodology. Results revealed deficiencies in the formation of competent nursing technicians who are trained in elderly care. Human beings' use of symbols and meanings of past experiences was seen as a reference point for the promotion of transforming initiatives that correspond to social reality.
The brazilian nursing, in its large theorical-practical dimension, has been trying to dicuss the social-political context questions, which interfere in the health and education sectors, both the superior and thecnical levels. One of the challenges enforced nowadays in the demogrphic aging, which occur quickly and demand redefinitions of roles and actions to attend of to the ederly population. The study had as objective to understand the geronthologic formation of the nursing technician. The methodologic broaching choice for this study was made by qualitative methodology, based on theoretical pressuposing of construtivism, geriatrics, geronthology and cultural interpretation. Among various ways for apprehension of the study object, this chose the study of case, having as scenary a nursing thecnical course of an institution of professional education. The gained results allow to verify the deficiency of formation of nursing technician professionals with competence and able in the care of elderly population. This also emphasize that the human creature must understand the using symbols and meanings of lived experiences as a referencial mark to the promotion of transforming initiatives which correspond to the social reality.
O objetivo deste trabalho foi promover a reflexão sobre gênero e saúde com a comunidade acadêmica e externa do Instituto Federal do Paraná (IFPR) - Câmpus Curitiba-PR, por meio da educação entre pares. Para isso, foram realizadas diversas ações no período de outubro de 2017 a dezembro de 2019, sendo divididas em duas etapas. A primeira delas contou com a atuação de alunos voluntários e um bolsista, promovendo atividades de roda de conversa, capacitações sobre gênero e sexualidade e atividade de enquete “o que é ser sexy?” com discentes e docentes do IFPR. Além disso, esta primeira etapa envolveu a atuação junto a crianças e jovens em situação de vulnerabilidade social de uma Organização Não Governamental (ONG) de Curitiba com orientações sobre Infecções Sexualmente Transmissíveis, sexualidade e instrução de higiene bucal. Na segunda etapa, os discentes desenvolveram atividades lúdico-educativas sobre a saúde bucal com adolescentes de um colégio estadual de Curitiba. Além disso, nesta etapa foram desenvolvidas atividades de orientação com alunos dos cursos técnicos integrados ao ensino médio do IFPR, abordando temas como: mononucleose, sífilis e Humano Papillomavirus (HPV). Como resultado, os participantes do projeto puderam fazer uma reflexão sobre saúde e gênero com a comunidade interna e externa do IFPR - Câmpus Curitiba, por meio da criação de um espaço de diálogo capaz de promover a autonomia dos adolescentes no processo educativo entre pares e perante o cuidado com sua saúde. Conclui-se que durante esse processo os mediadores foram transformados e tiveram novas vivências, adquirindo experiência como educadores em saúde.
