Objective: to identify the profile of scientific production on nursing in nephrology in Brazil in the last decade. Method: literature review carried out in the BIREME databases, using the following descriptors: nursing, renal dialysis, and renal insufficiency. The inclusion criteria adopted were: papers in English, Spanish, and Portuguese published in the last ten years approaching issues related to nursing in nephrology and whose full texts were freely available online. Results: 75% of the articles found were available at LILACS, 18.7% both at LILACS and SCIELO, and 6.3% at MEDLINE. There was an equivalence between the qualitative (8) and quantitative (8) searches, which had as study settings clinics (44%) and hospitals (56%), having the patients as the focus of interest (50%) and the assistance as the most discussed theme (56,25%). Conclusion: it is important that the arsenal of publications on nursing in nephrology keeps growing. It is also essential that these works in the scientific area cover a greater variety of themes and aim, therefore, at providing the nursing professionals with theoretical knowledge.
