Objetivo: Comparar los desenlaces trans y postquirúrgicos (tiempo quirúrgico, volumen de sangrado transoperatorio, y días de estancia intrahospitalaria) en pacientes sometidos a nefrectomía por abordaje abierto contra abordaje laparoscópico.
Material y métodos: Análisis retrospectivo, observacional y analítico; incluimos variables demográficas, tipo de patología, tipo de abordaje quirúrgico y desenlaces con estadística descriptiva (medidas de tendencia central y de dispersión) y análisis comparativo entre grupos (x2 y prueba de U de Mann-Whitney), consideramos diferencias estadísticamente significativas cuando p≤0.05.
Resultados: Analizamos expedientes de 66 mujeres (65.3 %) y 35 hombres (34.7%); 66 (65.3%) tenían patología benigna y 35 (34.7%) con patología maligna. Se realizó nefrectomía abierta a 67 (66.3%) pacientes y nefrectomía laparoscópica a 34 (33.7%) pacientes. No hubo diferencias en cuanto al género, edad, tipo de patología y tiempo quirúrgico. El volumen de sangrado y los días de estancia intrahospitalaria fueron significativamente menores en pacientes con nefrectomía laparoscópica (p=0.001 y p=0.041, respectivamente).
Limitaciones del estudio o implicaciones: Estudio retrospectivo.
Originalidad o valor: Primer reporte que describe los resultados postquirúrgicos en nefrectomías realizadas por abordaje abierto y laparoscópico en el sur del país.
Conclusiones: Nuestros resultados son consistentes con la evidencia actual en cuanto a los beneficios de la nefrectomía laparoscópica sobre la nefrectomía abierta.
