The majority of wood carving technology in Jepara is still conventional. The production process is done traditionally and manually (handmade), especially in wood carving that is applied to furniture. The impact is the production process becomes slow and the quality of the product cannot be achieved optimally. Optimization of production is needed to match the demands of the export market. Therefore, production technology is needed to meet the wants and needs of the export market. In this context, wood carving furniture that is designed for the export market should be realized with mass-processed machine technology solutions. The current development in Jepara that is happening is the production process in a modern way, but the product does not use carvings or decoration. Though wood carving can be made using a CNC router. Thus in the era of globalization, the development and design of wood carving furniture production technology in Jepara should properly use processes based on modern technology, machinery, skills, and mind-set changes as industrial products, including the development of human resources. In this case: training, coaching and mentoring should be done continuously, both by the government, universities and associations. This qualitative research uses a multidisciplinary approach, namely: technology, marketing, and design.
Everyone should enjoy the need for a trip. Nevertheless, wheelchairs user cannot feel the same. Often their trips are hampered because the facilities provided are not friendly to wheelchair users, one of which is the railway station. Gambir Station as one of the largest stations in Jakarta should be an example for other stations to provide equal opportunities for all passengers, including wheelchair users to able to explore Gambir Station comfortably. Therefore, in this paper, the author will evaluate what aspects of facilities for wheelchair users at Gambir Station. This research uses qualitative methods that focus on whether the wheelchair facilities provided in Gambir Station has aligned with Indonesia Ministry of Public Works Regulation No. 30/PRT/2016 and Accessible Train Station Design for Disabled People. The study employs an analysis method which includes wheelchair circulation, parking area, and passenger loading zones, door and entrance, elevator, restroom, furniture, and signages. The study also conducts an experiment and interviews on the head of Gambir Station customer service and prospective train passenger who is a wheelchair user. The construction of lower class vertical housing is a solution provided by Jakarta government to solve the problem of slums and densely populated settlements. Residents were relocated to the apartment unit that was built with the aim of providing a comfortable residence, but many residents who complained about the flats could not accommodate their activities. In residential design, the activities and needs of residents must be accommodated in the dwelling so that it can function optimally. This research is aimed at finding spatial arrangements that are suitable for the needs of residents in simple rental apartments. This research was conducted in ‘Rusunawa’ Tambora, which was completed in 2015, by examining one unit of each tower within three towers. Research uses qualitative methods with data collection through observation, and is written descriptively to describe more detailed results. The results showed that the spatial system and existing layout were still not suitable, especially in terms of space hierarchy, and in terms of space facilities, so it needed adjustments to make spatial arrangements that could facilitate the needs of residents.
