Bet sehr genauer zeitlicher Analyse der Temperaturkurve des sich isometrisch kontrahierenden Muskels zeigt sich, dab die (inifiale) Kontraktionsw~Lrme nicht auf einmal zu Beginn der Zuckung fret wird, sondern in drei dicht aufeinander folgenden Abschnitten. Die erste Phase entspricht der zunehmenden Spannung, die zweite Phase geringerer W~rmebildung dem Aufrechterhalten der Spannung und die dritte wieder erheblich st~irkere Ws produktion dem Erschlaffungsvorgang. Erst einige Sekunden sp/iter beginnt in Sauerstoff die sich fang hinziehende vierte Phase der Ws die Restitutionsw~rme. Besonders interessant ist dabei, dab der Erschlaffungsvorgang mit ether erheblichen positiven W~rmet6nung verknfipft ist. Es ist ein Zeichen daffir, dab ein erheblicher Tell der bei der Reizung fret gemachten Energie zun~chst in eine potentielle Form transformiert wird, um dann, falls sie nicht zu ~uBerer Arbeit gedient hat, bet der Erschlafftmg als W~rme zerstreut zu werden. Wenn auch die Zuordnung dieser W~rmephase zu den yon uns besprochenen Vorg~ngen im einzelnen noch nicht sicher ist, so m6chte ich die Erschlaffungsws auf die Reaktion beziehen, die sich zwischen der gebildeten Milchs~.ure und den Muskelproteinen abspielt. Wenn die Milchs~.ure an bestimmten Stellen (,,Verkfirzungsorten") im Muskel entstanden ist and die Kontraktion veranlaBt ha% muB sie von dort entfernt werden, damit die Erschlaffung eintreten kann. Dies geschieht meiner Meinung nach dadurch, dab das umgebende Muskelplasma (,,die Ermfidungsorte") die Milchs~ure mit groBer AffinitS~t an sich reiBt. Die genaue Analyse dieser neuen Untersuchung der englischen Physiologen babe ich an einem anderen Oft ~) durchgeffihrt, worauf hier verwiesen sei. Unsere Erkenntnis der euergetischen VorgS~nge im Muskel ist also, wie man gesehen haben wird, in den letzten Jahren besonders vorgeschritten. Es ist zu erwarten, dab in den n~chsten Jahren eine weitere K1/~rung dieser wichtigen ZusammenhSmge herbeigeffihrt wird und dabei auch der eigentliche Kontraktionsmechanismus, der bisher noch vollstXndig im Dunkeln liegt, ein gewisses Licht empf~kngt.
