This study has been planned to determine the need for consumer education by secondary school students. A total of 300 secondary school students (150 female, 150 male) living in central Ankara in different regions with respect to socio‐economic status participated in the study. Consumer education is defined as the management of economic resources, consumer behaviour concepts, relating to consumption, level of knowledge about consumer rights and responsibilities and environmental sensitivity. On the basis of this study, almost half the adolescents draw up a budget plan and carry out market research before shopping. Also, almost half of them put quality first when choosing goods and cost is of secondary importance. More than half of the students save money for unexpected outlay. Nonetheless, adolescents do not know about consumer rights and responsibilities, nor do they have sufficient information about consumer law and the concept of protecting the environment. More than half of the students stated that they need consumer education courses as part of their curriculum.
This study was conducted in Ankara, Turkey. In the study, questionnaire form and Self-Control Schedule (SCS) was used. According to the t-test, statistically significant difference between self-control skill and "support of family members to each other" was found. Analysis showed that the occupational status and educational level had a significant effect on self-control skill. Besides, there is a positive relationship between average monthly income and self-control skill, while there is a negative correlation among number of hospitalizations, diagnosis period, and self-control skill. Our results may be a guide to develop more effective intervention strategies for tuberculosis management.
AbstractDue to the poverty problem, one of the most affected groups is disabilities because disability is considered as both a cause and a result of poverty. In this vicious circle, social assistances function as an important tool of combating with poverty. This study was carried out with a total of 100 participants who received disabled relatives pension under the Law from Ankara Keçiören Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundation. The Perceived Causes of Poverty Scale developed by Shek (2003) and adapted to Turkish by İçağasıoğlu Çoban etc (2010) was used. Age, education and income level were defined as explanatory variables. It was found that the level of education had a significant relationship with the sub-scale of the individual problems. Age and the level of education was found to make a meaningful difference on the sub-scale of exploitation. Lastly, statistical analysis was also showed that the sub-scale of on the fatalism had a significant relationship to the level of income. Determining how perceive poverty will make contributions to the development of appropriate intervention strategies for social workers in order to combat with poverty.Keywods: Disabled People, Disabled Poverty, Social Assistance, Social Work.
Fourier transform (FT) is one of the transformation techniques to convert the time-domain signal into the frequency-domain signal. Due to its easy usage, it is applied in many engineering approaches where the data are made of periodic components. Electrocardiography (ECG) is an imaging modality which represents the data of electrophysiological activities of heart. ECG data are gathered from the electrodes that are placed on the specific locations on chest, and electrical activities of heart generally produce periodically shaped time series data. However, this periodicity can be perturbed, or side oscillations can occur due to certain abnormal activities in hearts. From our preliminary studies, we have found that the implementation of the FT multiple times in ECG datasets can be useful in the detection of main and hidden periodicities in autonomous applications. Especially when they are hard to be observed with the first FT. Hereby, this study aims to improve the accuracy of successful detection of such perturbations in ECG data by applying multiple FT and finding the relationship between the side oscillations and also detection of some features of the n th FT in datasets of various cardiac disorders
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
