Direct current (DC) resistivity, self potential (SP) and very low frequency electromagnetic (VLF-EM) measurements are carried out to detect the spread of groundwater contamination and to locate possible pathways of leachate plumes, that resulted from an open waste disposal site of Canakkale municipality. There is no proper management of the waste disposal site in which industrial and domestic wastes were improperly dumped. Furthermore, because of the dumpsite is being located at the catchment area borders of a small creek and is being topographically at a high elevation relative to the urban area, the groundwater is expected to be hazardously contaminated. Interpretations of DC resistivity geoelectrical data showed a low resistivity zone (<5 ohm-m), which appears to be a zone, that is fully saturated with leachate from an open dumpsite. The VLF-EM and SP method, support the results of geoelectrical method relating a contaminated zone in the survey area. There is a good correlation between the geophysical investigations and the results of previously collected geochemical and hydrochemical measurements.

Most orogenic belts are close to convergent plate margins. However, some orogens are formed far away from plate boundaries, as a result of compressional stress propagating within plates, basal loading, or a combination of thereof. We focus on the Atlas of Morocco, which is such an intraplate orogeny and shows evidence of mantle driven uplift, and plume-related volcanism. How these processes interact each other is still poorly constrained and it provides clues about intraplate stress propagation, strain localization, and lithospheric weakening due to mantle dynamics.

We present three sets of observations constructed by integrating previous data with new analyses. Crustal and thermal evolution constraints are combined with new analyses of topographic evolution and petrological and geochemical data from the Anti-Atlas volcanic fields. Our findings reveal that: i) crustal deformation and exhumation started during middle/late Miocene, contemporaneous with the onset of volcanism; ii) volcanism has an anorogenic signature with a deep source; iii) a dynamic deep mantle source supports the high topography. Lastly, we conducted simple numerical tests to investigate the connections between mantle dynamics and crustal deformation. This leads us to propose a model where mantle upwelling and related volcanism weaken the lithosphere and favor the localization of crustal shortening along pre-existing structures due to plate convergence.

This study aims to analyse the usage of inverted sentences which we have been witnessing in daily life, language and literature as well as show public perception about the inverted sentences. In the research, eight proses by eight different Turkish writers have been analysed according six factors. The observed data showed that inverted sentences more likely to be used by so-called left-wing writers who wrote about social subjects. To collect data about public opinion, a survey, consisting of 12 questions and answered by 500 people, conducted by the researchers. Regarding the last question, which serves most for the work, 772 connotations have been indicated by 448 people and these connotations have been associated with 267 different terms. According to data gathered by the open-ended questions, it could be said that society is in a dilemma as well as linguists. That we have come across different terms in addition to positive and negative answers shows the wealthy world of thought in Turkish society.
W e have carried out chemical analysis work on some meteorite and meteorite candidates found in Turkey. Major and minor element abundances of samples are used to decide an the nature of Chimed ''stones". Results are also compared with the literature. A need for a nationat meteorite inventory and data base is highlighted and its possible uses are mentioned. Many meteorites pass though Earth's atmosphere in every day. Most of them are very small particles and they haven't any chance to reach surface. Only a small number of them reaches at the ground and even less are recovered for inspection [2]. It is estimated that total number of meteorite recoveries is about 6 per year 131
