Integrated avionics architecture is desirable for the next generation aircraft. In this regard we have proposed a data bus network for small aircrafts to meet the demand of bandwidth, data transmission rate, immunity to electromagnetic interference, weight and size. In this paper a brief overview is given on present data bus protocols and a comparison is shown between them. Along with this, this paper compares between copper co-axial cables and optical fiber and proposes a data bus network for small aircrafts, its word format, data generation processes and reasons behind choosing such a network are also discussed. It also calculates different technical specifications and related findings through commercially available software, MATLAB to show the optical fiber based network as a reliable and modular system for use in aircrafts.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
