A catheter length of 4.5 cm may not penetrate the chest wall of a substantial amount (9.9%-35.4%) of the population, depending on age and gender. This study demonstrates the need for a variable needle length for relief of a tension pneumothorax in certain population groups to improve effectiveness of needle thoracostomy.
Portal vein thrombi are a common finding in the subset of patients who require a CT scan after IPAA. Patients who suffer PVT have a higher incidence of postoperative pouchitis. Thus a prospective evaluation of the risk of PVT and its association with pouchitis is warranted.
Gadolinium-enhanced MR imaging of the prostate after cryosurgery provides a highly accurate means of monitoring success. Objective MR imaging findings allow modifications to the technology and technique, resulting in optimal therapeutic results with prostatic cryosurgery.
MRI is helpful in characterizing splenic lesions, but there can be significant variability and overlap in the appearance of both benign and malignant splenic lesions; thus, a confident diagnosis can be presentation and classic imaging appearance , and further assessment for any other associated findings suggestive of systemic sarcoidosis is critical to avoid missed or delayed diagnosis-specifically, to avoid over-diagnosis of malignant disease because multiple splenic lesions can be the initial presentation of sarcoidosis.
