The study of modal sensors and actuators is motivated by their ability to control the
resonance frequency and the vibration modes of mechanical structures. In this work, a
non-homogeneous poling method to obtain a radial modal sensor from a piezoelectric disc
is presented. The construction method for three modal elements is described and their
electrical behavior is presented and analyzed in comparison to a uniform poled disc.
The design and construction of a bolt-clamped Langevin type transducer is presented in conjunction with its 3D analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Results show a good agreement between simulation using FEA and the mechanical adjustment of the transducer to tuned it at the desired operation frequency.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
