Eine Reduzierung des Kuhbestandes in der EG ist wegen der vorhandenen Milchüberschuβsituation agrarpolitisch wünschenswert. Dabei darj nicht übersehen werden, daβ bei einem Rβckgang des Kuhbestandes der damit verbundene Rückgang an Kälbergeburten zu einem Mangel an Masttieren führen kann. Es wurde deshalb die Frage untersucht, oh über die Produktion von “Baby‐Kalbern” im Rahmen einer Färsenvornutzung einer solchen Entwicklung beqegnet werden kann. 219 Jungrindei wurden im Alter von neun bis elf' Monaten erstmalig besamt und brachten im Altri von 18 bis 20 Monaten zusätzlich 132 “Baby‐Kälber” während der Aufzucht. Bei Beginn der Milchnutzung waren diese Färsen 31,4 Monate alt, die nicht‐vorgenutztei! Kontrolltiere 27,0 Monate. In den anschlieβenden Milchleistungen waren die vorge nutrten Tiere ihren Stallgefährtinnen um etwa 4 %überlegen. Die Aufruchtkosten der Farsen wurden um 110,— DM gesenkt, die Deckungsbeiträge je Durchschnittskuh je nach Kalbemonat um 19,— bis 70,— DM verbessert. Die Vor‐ und Nachteile der Far senvornutzung fur den Milcherzeuger wurden herausgestellt. Ob dieses Verfahren für Milcherzeuger interessant sein kann, muβ von Fall zu Fall entschieden werden.
