Au cours des recherches que j 'ai effectuées à Caracas (1) au laboratoire de la Santé Publique, sur les cancers vermineux des rats sauvages et leur étiologie, j 'ai eu l'occasion de rencontrer, chez une blatte, Rhyparobia maderae Fabr. (2), très commune au Vene zuela, une larve de spiruridé que j 'ai pu identifier expérimentale ment en faisant ingérer des insectes parasités à des rats domes tiques. Le ver adulte, apte à pondre, s'obtient en six semaines environ chez le rat (3) et, dès ce moment, les oeufs se rencontrent régulièrement, en plus ou moins grande quantité, dans les déjections de cet ani mal. J 'ai trouvé la même espèce dans l'estomac de 30 rats sauva ges (E. norvegicus) sur 750 autopsiés, soit dans une proportion de 4 p. 100. Certains rats sauvages, comme certains rats domestiques d'expérience, avaient leur estomac distendu par les parasites. Les vers obtenus expérimentalement, ainsi que ceux récoltés dans des conditions naturelles appartiennent au genre Protospirura de Seurat et à une espèce que je croyais différente du Protospirura bonnei, d'après la description donnée par Ortlepp (1924) qui ne signale que quatre dents à son espèce alors que celle étu diée par moi en présente douze (A et B, fig. 1). Cependant, grâce à l'obligeance du Dr Baylis du British Museum, qui a bien voulu confirmer ma description des dents labiales, et à celle du Professeur Leiper de Londres, qui a bien voulu m'envoyer les préparations (1) Je tiens à exprimer ici ma bien sincère reconnaissance à mon excellent collègue le Professeur E.
