Angaben über die hydrothermale Bearbeitung von Kaolinit (pH2O = 900 kg cm−2, T = 200–500 °C) in Gegenwart der Chloride von K, Na, Ca, Mg. Die röntgenographische Analyse der erhaltenen Produkte ergab die Bildung von Phasengemischen, die mit denen in der Natur beobachteten übereinstimmen. Zusätze von K‐ und Na‐Chlorid führen zur Umbildung der kaolinitischen Struktur in die des Glimmers über dazwischenliegende ungeordnete Mischphasen von Glimmer‐Montmorillonit. Zusätze von Ca‐ und Mg‐Chlorid bewirken die Umbildung von Kaolinit über montmorillonitische Zwischenphasen in die beständigen Gemische: Montmorillonit – Glimmer(Ca) und Montmorillonit–Chlorit(Mg).
Der tatsächliche Ablauf der Umbildung der Schichtsilikate erfolgt im festem Zustand und besitzt Umwandlungscharakter. Man kann annehmen, daß die Tendenz zur Umwandlungsumbildungscharakter. Man kann annehmen, daß die Tendenz zur Umwandlungsumbildung bevorzugt auftritt und sich im Verlaufe natürlicher epigenetischer und hydrothermaler Prozesse die Schichtsilikate verändern.
