A endometriose é uma patologia de etiologia multifatorial que apresenta diversas manifestações clínicas, como dor pélvica intensa, infertilidade, dismenorreia, alterações no hábito intestinal. Além disso, essa doença possui um alto custo financeiro para diagnóstico, tratamento e monitoramento, fatores que, somados, têm um impacto negativo na saúde psicológica e física da mulher. O diagnóstico da doença é difícil e muitas vezes demorado, pois a sintomatologia é inespecífica. A ultrassonografia transvaginal é o exame de imagem de primeira escolha, enquanto a ressonância magnética é usada em casos complexos e no planejamento cirúrgico. No entanto, o diagnóstico padrão ouro é a videolaparoscopia. O tratamento cirúrgico é indicado quando o tratamento clínico não é eficaz ou é contraindicado. A técnica preferível é a videolaparoscopia, que é uma cirurgia minimamente invasiva do abdômen. Essa técnica viabiliza menos sangramento, reduz a dor pós-operatória, diminui a morbidade e mortalidade, encurta a estadia no hospital e garante um rápido retorno às atividades cotidianas.
