RESUMOO ácido salicílico é um composto fenólico envolvido em diversos processos fisiológicos, funcionando como mitigador de estresses biótico e abiótico nas plantas. Neste sentido, o objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar o potencial fisiológico de sementes de soja embebidas em diferentes concentrações de ácido salicílico e submetidas ao estresse do envelhecimento acelerado. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições, sendo os tratamentos dispostos em esquema fatorial 4 x 3 (concentrações de ácido salicílico e três períodos de envelhecimento acelerado, respectivamente). Para tanto, as sementes de soja, cv. Monsoy 8644, foram submetidas à embebição por oito horas, em diferentes concentrações de ácido salicílico (100, 150 e 200 mg L -1 e o controle, cuja embebição foi realizada em água destilada), entre três folhas de papel germitest, com a quantidade equivalente a 2,5 vezes a massa do substrato seco. Após a secagem, as sementes foram colocadas sob envelhecimento acelerado a 41 °C pelos períodos de 0, 24 e 48 horas. Em seguida, as sementes foram caracterizadas pelo teor de água. Foram realizados os testes de germinação, condutividade elétrica e emergência em campo. Foram avaliados o percentual de germinação, o percentual de emergência, o índice de velocidade de emergência, o tempo médio de emergência e massa seca da parte aérea de plântulas. O uso de ácido salicílico na concentração 100 mg L -1 nas sementes reduziu o índice de velocidade de emergência, nas sementes envelhecidas por 48 horas a 41 ºC, enquanto as concentrações 150 e 200 mg L -1 intensificaram o estresse do envelhecimento.
