Resumo: O Câncer é uma das principais doenças causadoras de morte na América latina e no mundo. Em pacientes hospitalizados a doença ocorre de forma mais frequente e prejudica o estado nutricional. A desnutrição associada ao Câncer diminui a qualidade de vida por meio da diminuição da capacidade funcional e da deterioração nutricional. Trata-se de uma revisão de literatura integrativa, com abordagem quali-quantitativa através de artigos encontrados nas bases de dados: Pubmed, Google acadêmico e INCA, realizadas nos meses de fevereiro a maio de 2022, sendo selecionado para análise apenas os estudos que compreendem o período de 2018 a 2022. A idade, a desnutrição, e a fraqueza muscular são fatores de risco que contribuem para o desfecho em morte do indivíduo. Com o avanço da idade, há a diminuição da resposta imunológica do organismo. Em pacientes oncológicos, a desnutrição indivíduos oncológicos se torna um fator de risco que aumenta os custos na saúde pública, o tempo de internação e os índices de mortalidade, por estar diretamente associada com o tratamento oncológico. A alimentação tem um importante papel no tratamento do câncer. Portanto, As alterações metabólicas resultantes da manifestação da patologia, contribui para aumentar o tempo de hospitalização e o desencadeamento da desnutrição. É de suma importância ressaltar a importância da atuação do profissional nutricionista na recuperação da saúde desses paciente, na melhora do estado nutricional e no acompanhamento da intervenção dietética.
Objetivo: Este trabalho objetiva descrever as consequências e critérios de diagnósticos da desnutrição em pacientes acometidos pelo câncer. Assim como, conceituar câncer, relatar consequências da desnutrição e apontar critérios de diagnósticos da desnutrição em pacientes com câncer.
