Market uncertainty and financial instability in the era of global competition force companies to work faster and increase productivity and business efficiency with continuous cost reduction and qualitative efficiency, which serves as a basis for strengthening the competitiveness and sustainable development of all, including SMEs -small and medium-sized enterprises of the textile and clothing industry. Various innovative contents and adequate technological solutions, as well as reengineering of business/production processes, with massive and adequate implementation of technical-technological innovations based on information and communication technologies -ICT and flexible automation, i.e. on the direct and efficient implementation sector defined information systems, also represent possible elements of functional competitiveness and sustainable development. Otherwise, changes in the environment and ways of doing business of companies require a better understanding and integration of data, as well as their more efficient exploitation in the functioning and development of the company, which imposes the need for permanent generation, adaptation and development of quality and efficient information systems. As a result of such requirements, the responses of industrial production through the implementation of technical-technological innovations are inevitable, whereby quality and efficient ICT infrastructure, coherence of innovative technologies and flexible production, as well as compatibility and complementarity of production and business information systems, are necessary elements and indicators of efficiency and quality. The implementation, efficient exploitation, as well as the development of various business and production information systems, obviously has its benefits, presented through more efficient, better quality and faster operations, but also disadvantages, because it is obviously conditioned by the stochastic laws of the global market, the variable human factor or the lack of high-quality, highly educated professionals staff, requirements for high initial investments, but also the specifics of the textile/clothing industry and SMEs, as well as the incompatibility of the implemented production and business systems.
The first part of the paper is a systematic explanation of the process of defining the most important parameters for generating optimal and efficient models of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) of the clothing industry, with the presentation of specific and adequate methods of research, i.e. with the evaluation of data for designing new models, and including previous research data. The following is an explanation of the final phase, i.e. a systematic and objective design assessment, through the implementation of preliminary results of exploitation studies of the modal experiment and computer simulation of the new model, based on which the criteria for efficient and optimal implementation of the CAD/CAM systems are defined.
An important element of the policy of development and modernization of each country is the establishment of a program of balanced long-term development, which must be complementary with strategic priorities and national characteristics, as well as the real state and prospects of technical and technological development of science and industry. Therefore, manufacturing entrepreneurship today, would have to combine scientific research activities, education sector and public administration with production, in order to ensure efficient acquisition of new knowledge and skills, along the generation and production-economic valorization of innovations and diffusion and implementation of technical-technological innovations and new technologies, with priority reliance on ICT (information and communication technologies). It is obvious that sustainable competitiveness, in times of general and business globalization, is no longer in quantitative-qualitative aspects of production, but in new elements of production specialization, adequate and timely implementation of technical-technological innovations, in organizational innovations, in the way cluster business and in global efficiency, as well as in close and flexible connection of design, planning, production technologies and production, with the possibility of quick response (JustInTime and QuickResponseSystem) to the changes required by the market. That is why today the issue of redefining the way of work and business of textile/clothing industry companies is more than current, in fact the issue of redefining the strategic programs of economic development of developing countries.
The modern business of the textile and clothing industry implies product fragmentation, which is followed by the defragmentation of the production cycle on a global level, which today is facilitated by technical and technological innovations. The dominance of the corporate entity in the modern economy means that every company must constantly monitor changes, in order to actively engage in the continuous generation of competitive advantages. It can be said that the basis of modern competitiveness today is quality, flexibility, the existence of raw materials, degree of automation, organizational innovation, human resources and cluster business, while creativity - original design, specialization, diversification, technical and technological innovation, e-business and circular economy are key factors in maintaining a competitive position in the global market. Coexistence with the new global rules is the inevitability of modern strategies for the work and development of the textile and clothing industry, which requires, among other things, continuous investment in raising productivity or product credibility, using internationally accepted certification methods, launching new product lines and expanding markets by conquering new segments on different basis (branding, online shopping, recycling, fast fashion, etc.). It should be noted that in addition to all the above factors companies (part - 1, 2 and 3) influencing the work and development of textile and clothing industry, which should be an integral part of new strategies, there are other factors that may be important or even crucial for successful and efficient operation, development and operation of textile and clothing industry companies.
Kljične reči: modelovanje, upravljanje poslovnim procesima, mala i srednja preduzeća.
