Formada por camadas bimoleculares de lípides intercaladas comproteínas, a mielina constitui um importante elemento do Sistema NervosoCentral e Periférico, atuando como uma bainha que envolve os tratos nervosos,facilitando a rápida comunicação entre os neurônios. São sintetizados emantidos pelos oligodendrócitos, uma das células mais vulneráveis do sistemanervoso, que formam um número variável de segmentos de mielina, chamadosinternódulos, que variam entre 1 e 200. Desse modo, quando ocorre lesão emuma célula, podem ser destruídos inúmeros internódulos, em um processodenominado desmielinizante, provocando uma série de complicações. Com isso,este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a função da mielina no sistema nervosoe as complicações clinicas de sua degeneração
O transtorno de personalidade borderline (TPB) está relacionada com uma estrutura psíquica vulnerável, que atua de maneira instável, figurando entre comportamento impulsivo e a psicose, o que engloba um amplo território psicopatológico, incluindo alterações afetivas, distorções do temperamento e caráter. A definição de TPB refere-se a um constructo estabelecido operacionalmente, onde o paciente enquadra-se neste diagnóstico com o preenchimento de alguns critérios estabelecidos. Tal operacionalização tem a finalidade de dar mais confiabilidade e homogeneidade aos avaliadores. Já o transtorno Afetivo Bipolar (TAB) caracteriza-se como um transtorno de humor com episódios de mania ou hipomania, depressão ou ambos e abrange os tipos I e II (TAB I; TAB II), conforme classificação diagnóstica do DSM V. O TAB caracteriza-se como um distúrbio psiquiátrico com alternância de episódios depressivos e eufóricos. Deste modo, o presente estudo apresenta uma análisesobre o transtorno de personalidade borderline e o transtorno afetivo bipolar, considerando os principais aspectos que envolvem ambos, mediante o emprego da metodologia de delineamento denominado como pesquisa bibliográfica deabordagem descritiva qualitativa. Depreende-se que, a equipe multidisciplinar deve ser ativa com suporte integral a estes pacientes, um projeto terapêutico amplo interativo entre os cuidadores
