Este trabalho apresenta uma reflexão dialógica sobre a carnavalização em Tarsila do Amaral. O quadro Antropofagia, composto pela síncrese de A Negra e Abaporu, em diálogo com a estética moderna é o corpus, em cotejo com outras obras da autora-criadora. A fundamentação teórica se pauta nas noções de dialogia e carnavalização dos estudos bakhtinianos, mobilizadas junto à descrição analítica verbivocovisual. O objetivo é pensar sobre a constituição da(s) identidade(s) por meio da(s) alteridade(s), ou seja, o quanto a voz do outro constitui a voz do eu, composta por um embate que, no caso de Tarsila, constitui o traço estilístico de sua estética, de uma identidade artística e de uma imagem de Brasil. A relevância se volta à reflexão sobre essas concepções, num momento de resistências, rupturas e confirmações de tradições, como o vivido no início do século passado, configurado de outra maneira, pois outro tempo histórico. A ideia de nacional, de brasilidade, de eu-outro, interno-externo, próprio-alheio emerge com fulgor, assim como a urgência de se pensar a identidade-outra/alter, heterogênea, ímpar, responsiva e responsável no elo discursivo que constitui uma nova-velha era e essa é a proposta ética desta escrita.
