An evaluation and teaching tool for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was found to be helpful in preparing patients for self-care at home. Similar tools could be useful for patients with other chronic illnesses.

These agents appear to have fewer side effects than many other commonly used agents. Nursing interventions include monitoring for individual responses to the drugs and providing adequate education to ensure the patient's compliance with the drug regime.
